DATE: 06-29-2017 TO: FIRESTONE CORPORATION FROM: SAUL CAMPOS – CUSTOMER RE: SERVICE INCIDENT ON 06-26-2017 AND FIRESTONE CORPORATION TREATMENT TO LOYAL CUSTOMER - FIRESTONE STORE WEST COVINA, CA. _____________________________________________________________________________ Back in 2012, I opened a Firestone Credit Card because my daughters were headed to college and I needed to find an auto repair place that my daughters can use when something occurred with their cars. One daughter is currently going to school in Northern Arizona while the other is in Phoenix. We have been using Firestone for at least 3 years as of this week. On Monday June 26, 2017, at approximately 1600 Hrs., I decided to take my 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac to the Fire Stone Dealer in West Covina, Ca. at 1035 W. West Covina Parkway, 91790 for an oil change. As I was in the process of printing my online coupon, I noticed a coupon for a $10.00 AC check so I decided to get my AC checked to ensure that it was running fine since it has been blowing cold in this hot weather we have been having in Southern California. As I was driving to Firestone in West Covina, I used a thermostat to measure that degrees on the AC, I recorded a reading of 58.3 to 60.1 degrees at 1625 Hrs., (this determined that the AC was blowing cold). So when I arrived to Firestone I advised the sales clerk that I wanted to get an oil change and also take advantage of this $10.00 AC check. I advised the clerk that the AC was blowing cold at 58.3 – 60.1, but I wanted to make sure the system is continuing to work correctly with no problems. At approximately 1637 Hrs. on 6/26/17, the Firestone clerk registered my car in and I left the building. On Tuesday June 27, 2017 at approximately 15:00 Hrs. I called the Firestone store to get an update on the vehicle. I was advised by the clerk that my car was just taken into the shop to get checked. Since I did not have my car, my wife picked me up from work and on my way home we passed by the Firestone store to find my car still parked OUTSIDE and NOT in the shop as the clerk stated. At approximately 1700 Hrs., I called the store to get an update again on my car. The clerk stated that he needed to check, so he put me on hold and returned several minutes later to advise me that the oil has been changed but the reason why the AC was not blowing hot was because there was a leak in the system. I immediately asked the clerk to state what he said and he again said that the reason why the AC was blowing hot was because I had a leak in the system. I then asked the clerk why there was a leak in the system if the AC system was blowing cold. The clerk went on to state that he was not sure of that, but they determined a leak in the system. I again asked the clerk why the system was blowing cold 58 degrees before I took it in and now you state it blowing hot. I explained to the clerk that the AC was working fine and all I was asking was to have your team check and verify that it was working well. I then drove to the store in my Jeep to get my Jeep serviced as well. I them talked to the Store Manager Simon Briseno Jr. who stated that the car was leaking AC fluid. I explained to Simon that the AC was blowing at 58-60 degrees before I brought it in to get checked, but he stated that this was not true, calling me a liar. I then explained to him that on Monday 6/26/2017 before I brought it in the AC was blowing at 58-60 and now you’re telling me that this is not true. Simon stated that the AC will not blow that cold because of the alleged leak, I future explained to him that the system was working fine because of the hot weather that we have been having and all I wanted was to have the system checked to ensure that it was working correctly. Simon then brought the technician that worked on the car to have him explain what happened, I asked the technician if he tested the AC temperature BEFORE checking the system, to which he stated NO. I then asked them why and they stated that they were told that there was an AC problem, which is a complete lie. Simon a Manager of the store, put an employee in an unprofessional position and manner to basically confront a customer! This is very poor management. I again stated to Simon that I told the service tech that it was working fine and now you’re telling me that my AC system is broken!!!! I also explained that I have $2500 Firestone Card and the money is not the fact, it’s the CREDITABILITY AND HONESTY OF YOUR COMPANY. Simon then states this: “Then why do you continue to do service with us, if were not trust worthy and have a lot of problems”. I answered back to him because your store is closest to me and you have serviced my daughter’s cars before… I then again showed Simon the reading of the AC system with the specific reading, time, and date, of the AC system. But he stated that, that does not mean anything unless I have picture! Again, calling a customer a liar. I then stated to Simon in front of the tech, that I will take the car and drive it to see if the system charges and blows cold, Simon agreed and stated: “THAT IS THE SYSTEM DOES NOT BLOW COLD, TO COME BACK AND HE WILL REFILL THE AC SYSTEM TO SEE IF THAT HELPS. We then walked into the store, signed the paper work and I left the store. At approximately 1830 Hrs., I called the store asking to speak to Simon because the AC system was blowing at 86.4 degrees vs. the 58-60 degrees before I took the store, but I was advised that he was gone home for the day. I stated to the person on the phone that I call in tomorrow to see if I can speak to someone aside from him, per Simon direction. Please Note: I left my 1990 Jeep with Simon (Firestone) to get an oil change. On Tuesday 06-28-2017 at 9:00am, I called the store asking for a manager or someone that can help me find out if Firestone was a corporate or franchise store and the license or ownership information. The person on the phone put me on hold and several minutes later told me that Simon called and directed him to tell me to call the 1800 number and to also COME AND PICK UP MY JEEP BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT GOING TO SERVICE IT. I explained to the clerk that Simon stated to follow up and bring the car back if the AC system was not working… But the clerk stated that he was told by Simon to call the 1800 number and COME AND PICK UP MY JEEP…. I them called my wife who was home sick from work to go and pick up my Jeep from the store. On Wednesday 06-28-2017 at 9:00am I called the 1800-367-3872 Firestone Corporate Number and filed a complaint (complaint number ref# 2255323) and was told by Panya (Customer Service Supervisor) that someone will be calling me with 24 hours. As of 10:00am on 06-29-17, no one has called. On Thursday 06-29-2017 at 8:38am, I called the store and asked for Simon to see what occurred on Wednesday 06-28. He stated that he will file a claim and have someone call me, I asked him if he gave the direction to his clerk to tell me to pick up my car and he stated “yes”. I then stated to Simon that if he understands that he is a representative of management for Firestone and the company and has not turned this into a major problem and even made it worse be now denying service to a loyal customer? Simon stated “Yes” and hanged up the phone. Needless to say that this is not acceptable and clearly the worst treatment that a loyal customer can received from Firestone Corporation. These are the facts: 1. I have been servicing my cars (5 cars) with Firestone for the last 4 years 2. I have a Firestone Credit Card with $2500., available to be charged 3. AC system was working fine before the car was taken to Firestone 4. I have a recording and documented reading of the AC system reading at 58.3-60.1 before the service took place (this can be supported by my wife) 5. After the service AC system is not working, AN ALLEGED LEAK BY FIRESTONE and reading at 86.5 6. I was told by a representative of Management from Firestone to bring the car back to try to resolve the problem, which now is no longer an option. 7. I am now left with no AC in my car, but the most important concern is the treatment from Firestone and the deny of future service 8. Is this because Firestone was caught doing something intentionally to the AC system? 9. Is this because I am a customer that ask questions and is fully aware of what occurred? 10. Is this because of my race, religion, or just the fact that I asked “why”? I will be addressing this matter and document with the following: - Better Business Bureau for Automotive - Bureau of Automotive Repair - Yelp – Firestone West Covina - California Consumer Affairs - City of West Covina Consumer Affairs - Channel 4 KNBC Los – Investigation Team Automotive Hot Line Saul Campos 626-278-8709

Customer service is NOT lacking at this location! When you enter the store, it absolutely rings of modern day appearance. HOWEVER, the level of care, respect of your time and understanding of how you spend your hard earned money is front and center. By this, I mean the representatives take the time to make sure you're the informed customer, even if its something as simple as a tire rotation or a pair of wiper blades. We all work VERY hard to make ends meet, and they respect how you choose to take care of the biggest safety item for your family. It may be coming up on 2017, but the values and customer care is back in the 1970's, where we need to bring it back to everywhere!!

Very friendly people who recognize you when you're entering the place which is very neat and well organized. Candid advise about your car, no pressure on extra services.

I was able to deliver a set of new tires from a popular distributor to my local Firestone center. As soon as my tires were delivered I received a courtesy call letting me know that my tires were on location and no appointment was necessary. Roughly 8 days later I walked to have my tires installed as well as a 4 wheel alignment. Much to my surprise the staff stayed beyond close of business to finish my vehicle.

Went in for a matching tire for my Primewell Valera Touring tires. Made a special trip far from my home since Firestone stores are the only place I can find those tires. After a 3 hour wait I noticed the tire was not what I asked for. They checked the stock and told me they had Valera touring but they installed a different Primewell tire. When I raised the issue they told me they didn't have Velara tourings in stock and they would have to order it. Will not return to this store.

Easy to schedule an appointment and fast service, but the manager seemed unhappy that I declined other "recommended" services, its seems the employees are under tremendous pressure to up sell services to customer and disappointment in their faces if you decline those additional services is obvious.

I have there plenty of times and they don't rry to rip you off(even though the service they provide can be a bit expensive) they let u know whats needed and give you an estimate. I like that because someone can easily get ripped off for something that doesn't need to be done.

I stopped in without an appointment since one tire kept going soft over the past week. They found a screw embedded in the tire and fixed it promptly. Since I bought the tires with the lifetime warranty there was no charge!

There are a couple of Firestone service centers in my area, but I prefer this one even though it is a bit farther for me to get to. They give me fast and friendly service and honest appraisals of what my car may require. They have a comfortable waiting area, clean rest room and good free coffee.
